Magyarországon a 20. század történelmi eseményei során úgy szocializálódtunk, hogy nem kell és nem is szabad felelősséget vállalunk a döntéseinkért, és a rendszerváltás óta eltelt 20 évben ugyanezt a leckét mondjuk fel újra és újra. A tulajdonhoz kapcsolódó jogok öntudatos használata mellett a kötelességek, és mások jogainak tiszteletben tartása bántóan hiányzik a cselekvésekből: elmosódottak és tisztázatlanok maradtak a közös és magántulajdon határai, amit nap, mint nap tapasztalhatunk a közös terek használatában. Az egyéni felelősségvállalás gyengesége a fogyasztói döntések meghozatala során is megjelenik. Miközben egyre többen eszmélnek rá saját fogyasztásuk környezetünkre gyakorolt negatív hatásaira, a kialakult gazdasági válság sokak számára az első olyan élmény, mely megmutatja, hogy a felelőtlen gazdasági döntések közvetlenül is képesek negatív módon visszahatni az egyénre. De vajon van-e okunk feltételezni, hogy a túlfogyasztás folyamata megállna, vagy visszafordulna?

A kiállítás tárgya maga a kiállítást meglátogató ember. A Magyar Pavilont a világból lehatárolt laboratóriumi térként definiáljuk, melyben egy egyszerű szabály van: a falon levő légpárnás fóliafelület megszámlálhatatlanul sok buborékjából csak egyetlen egyet pukkaszthat ki a látogató. Az egyéni felelősségvállalás a fogyasztói döntések esetében azzal jár, hogy felvállaljuk, hogy a fogyasztói kultúra által előhívott és felerősített kényszeres vágyaink és tudatosan felvállalt értékeink egyaránt vannak. Az ösztönös és a felettes én, az önérdek és a közjó ütközésének és kibékülésének a helye az emberben a tudatosság, az ego szintjén van, és mindez esetünkben a kiállítótérben zajlik.

A légpárnás fólia (más néven buborékfólia): a műanyag habok mellett az egyik leggyakrabban használt polietilén alapanyagból készülő védő- és párnázó anyag, ütésre érzékeny vagy sérülékeny felületű termékek védelmére.

Az üzenet, a kérdésfelvetés a kritikai design nyelvén szólal meg, a fogyasztás, környezetszennyezés egyik legerősebb szimbólumán, a műanyag csomagolóanyagon keresztül. Ez az ironikus formanyelv nemcsak építészeti válaszok adására, reagálásra, gyönyörködtetésre, hanem az építészet határain kívül eső kérdések feltevésére is alkalmas: az installáció, az építészet kritikai médiumaként léphet fel.

The Moirae

(often called the The Fates), in Greek mythology, were the white-robed personifications of destiny. Their number became fixed at three. The Greek word moira literally means a part or portion, and by extension one's portion in life or destiny. They controlled the metaphorical thread of life of every mortal from birth to death (and beyond).

moiré pattern

In physics, a moiré pattern is an interference pattern created, for example, when two grids are overlaid at an angle, or when they have slightly different mesh sizes. The term originates from moire, a type of textile, traditionally of silk but now also of cotton or synthetic fiber, with a rippled or 'watered' appearance.

geometry

shape and dimension of buildings communicate their function - or the range of functions that they could host.

skyscraper

specific geometry could determine its function. the key attributes like height, verticality and limited access lead us to the issues of safety-closeness, the possibility and constraint of control, and the standardization of forms and functions for the optimal use.

prison

through these key words we were looking for the function that this specific building geometry is the adequate answer for. prisons all around the u.s. could be centralized which would make their maintainance easier and more controllable through a building like this.

rehabilitation and reintegration

our prisoners cover their own energy needs by using special gym tools that produce electricity. this activity also helps their physical condition, just like growing plants on the outer terraces of the towers improves their menthal health.

self-sufficiency

as the mesh of the facade captives solar energy and water, and the prisoners produce their own electricity, the tower is independent from the public utility. by selling the grown plants the prison can even achieve economical independence that would improve the general judgement of state prisons. by liberating many properties within cities that were earlier inhabited by prisoners, large number of social housing could be established.
